THE BETTING STRATEGY: THE THORP’S TEN-COUNT SYSTEM

One of the oldest and best-betting strategies in the world is the Thorp’s Ten-Count System. However, it’s rarely used in today’s world. Any betting strategy or betting system is an organized way of gambling to get more profit. A good betting strategy must trounce the element of the house edge.

To be effective in any betting, one needs to strategize. Betting is both complex and fun and it needs keen observation and a sharp mind but at the end of the day, it’s all a game. The Thorp’s Ten Count System is a counting strategy which was developed by Edward Thorp.

It is basically a sophisticated Blackjack card system of counting for advanced card players. When it was invented, the Thorp’s Ten-Count System created a revolutionary in the betting strategy and the card playing world.

This is because it was the initial mathematical betting strategy system that a player would use to beat an opponent smartly. This system was the pioneer of other card playing betting systems.

How to operate this betting system

This betting strategy system has essentially become extinct in today’s’ card games since it is meant for a single deck of cards. However, these days most casinos usually use numerous decks for the card games.

In the Thorp’s Ten-Count System each card has a certain value and while playing one has to memorize a running count. The running count will be very valuable in assisting the player in placing the bet. Therefore the higher placed the number is to the point card of 10, and the more money should be placed in the bet.

The lower the number is to the negative integer and 0 the lesser the money of the bet that should be placed. So basically what one should know when using this betting strategy system is that you should add a +4 to every card that is not a 10 point and add a -9 to each 10.

In addition to this, some expert card players have pointed out that there was an older version of the ten-count system which was more complex. This strategy system involved the subtraction of tens and non-tens cards. Which would eventually be divided before getting a ratio that would be placed in a table and decide the player’s bet. However, this difficult system was quickly phased out.
